Unbelievable traffic, mixture of cultures and an apparent connecting factor to local women... a Birkin or a Chanel! Its becoming a stereotype…This topic came as a result of my latest visits to “the Mall”
What it is that causes women to go crazy over a Birkin, remains somewhat a mystery. To me; the birkin was truly elegant, classical and unique.. In fact not so many years ago it was a dream for so many people due to the very low supply. I had put in my name on the Paris, London and Switzerland waiting list!
I received my birkin 5 years ago and literally cried when I got it! Seriously! It was one of the most valuable (sentimentally) item in my closet…
Owning a Birkin tells the world “Look-at-me, I’ve made it big.”, however.. Right now.. It’s physically impossible to look at so many people at once!
Paris workrooms produces only five Birkins per week, which explains the long waiting lists... With 240 bags a year, a mystery is yet to be solved explaining the Birkin explosion that hit our land.
I haven’t seen mine for over a year now :( it’s safely packed in its box waiting for it to be unique again.I'm sooo glad its classic.

Results of an unofficial poll I run on what are the most seen | worn bags lately
The 2.55 Chanel handbag has that particular name simply because it was originally issued in February 1955. Many of the bag details carry a story behind Coco Chanel:
• The lining – The lining’s brown color represents the color of the uniforms from the convent where she grew up.
• The inside compartment – there’s a zippered compartment at the inside of the front flap. That’s where Coco Chanel hid her love letters (from her lover at the time).
• The backside – there’s a back outside flap on the handbag – that’s where Ms Chanel stashed extra money.
• The shoulder strap –Coco Chanel grew up in a convent, at the orphanage. The caretakers hold the keys at their waist dangling from the same type of chains as the 2.55 shoulder strap chains.
• The front lock – the 2.55 front lock is different from the classic double CC logo. It’s logo is called “the Mademoiselle Lock” (because Ms Chanel was never married)
The bag and its details are so luxurious and feminine. However, after the relaunch in 2005; I chose to overlook those details; seeing the 2.55 Chanel being carried by the dozen, gently turning away my so beautiful vintage Chanel bag (handed to me by my dear mother) and decided to look for other unique and elegant handbags A bag that would differentiate me and set me apart as an individual not a group! … The search is still on going, Stay tuned as soon, some will be introduced to you!
